水彩で紫陽花スケッチ
こんにちは。Rikkaです。
庭の紫陽花がやっと咲きました。
この季節ならではの瑞々しい姿に誘われて、スケッチがてら筆をとりました。
すると、なんとタイミングよく青くて美しいアゲハ蝶が訪問！
嬉しくなって、そのまま絵の中にも登場してもらうことにしました🦋
紫陽花は、水彩にぴったりのモチーフ
紫陽花は、水彩で描くのに本当にふさわしいモチーフだなと改めて思いました。
その微妙なグラデーション、透明感、瑞々しさ。
「水と色」を操る練習にぴったりですね。
絵の具の持つ色の美しさを存分に生かせるモチーフなので
毎年多くの水彩画の題材になっているのもうなずけます。
今回の反省点と気づき
今回は時間をかけずにささっと描いたのですが、
- 絵の具を混ぜすぎて少し色が濁ってしまったり、
- 水を多く使いすぎてぼかしがにじみすぎたりと、ちょっと反省も。
でもこうした失敗も、次に活かせる学びの種です！
水の量、混色のタイミングなど、次回はもっと繊細に向き合っていきたいなと思いました。
おわりに
季節の花を観察しながら描くのは、本当に心が落ち着くひとときです。
今しかない旬のタイミングを描くと、どこか絵に魂が宿る気がします。
「この最高の美しさを逃すまい」とする気持ちが、ふっと入るのかもしれません。
そういう意味でも、あまり入念な準備を必要としない「水彩スケッチ」は
瞬間の感動を記録する、有意義なものだと思いました。
今後も旬の感動を描いていきたいですね。
🌸 Hydrangea Sketch in Watercolor

The hydrangeas in my garden have finally bloomed.
Drawn in by their fresh and seasonal beauty, I picked up my brush for a quick sketch.
Just then, a beautiful blue swallowtail butterfly fluttered around the blossoms—
What perfect timing!
Feeling delighted, I decided to invite it into the painting as well.🦋
Hydrangeas: A Perfect Motif for Watercolor
Once again, I realized how well hydrangeas suit watercolor painting.
Their subtle color gradations, transparency, and dewy freshness make them an ideal subject.
They truly allow the beauty of watercolor pigments to shine.
It’s no wonder they are a favorite motif for watercolor artists year after year.
Reflections & Lessons from This Sketch
This time, I sketched quickly without spending too much time.
As a result, I overmixed some colors, causing them to become a little muddy.
And I used a bit too much water, which made the soft blending spread too far.
Still, I see these small missteps as seeds of learning for the future.
I hope to be more mindful of water control and color mixing next time—
to treat each brushstroke with greater sensitivity.
In Closing
Painting while observing seasonal flowers brings me such peace of mind.
When capturing something in its prime moment,
it feels like the painting gains a little soul of its own.
Perhaps it’s the quiet urge to “not let this fleeting beauty slip away”
that slips into the work itself.
In that sense, spontaneous watercolor sketches—
which require little preparation—
can serve as meaningful records of heartfelt moments.
I hope to continue painting these seasonal inspirations as they come.
