【作品紹介】浄蓮の滝 ～伊豆の旅にて
響きわたる水音と、緑に包まれた名瀑の風景
この作品は、伊豆を旅した際に訪れた名瀑、浄蓮の滝（じょうれんのたき）をスケッチし、水彩画に仕上げたものです。
浄蓮の滝は、「日本の滝100選」にも選ばれており、伊豆の自然を象徴するような存在です。
石川さゆりさんの「天城越え」の歌詞でも有名ですね。
200段もの階段を下った先に現れる滝は、
近づくにつれて響いてくる轟音に胸が高鳴り、
まばゆいばかりの白いしぶきを上げながら流れ落ちる姿に、圧倒されました！
🎨 こだわりポイント
この作品では、主役である滝の豪快さと存在感を、水彩ならではの表現で描き出すことに挑みました。
滝だけでなく、この場所を形づくる自然の細部にも注力しています。
- 岸壁から流れ落ちる小さな滝（画面左）
- 柱のように並ぶ玄武岩の岩面（画面右）
- 水面に跳ねるしぶき
- 清流の中に点在する苔むした岩たち
これらすべてを、実際に現地で感じた臨場感そのままに描き込みました。
✍️ 制作をとおして学んだこと
色数を抑え、限られた色で仕上げたことで、画面全体に統一感のある色調が出せたのは良い学びとなりました。
ただ、滝の流れや木々の葉など、繊細な表現に関しては、今後も磨いていきたいポイントです。
筆づかいや細い筆の扱い方をもっと自在にすることで、
自然の「繊細さ」と「ダイナミズム」の両立をめざして、表現の幅を広げていきたいです。

【Artwork Introduction】Joren Waterfall – A Journey Through Izu
A Majestic Cascade Amidst Lush Greenery
This watercolor painting depicts Joren Waterfall,
one of Izu’s most iconic natural wonders, selected as one of the Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan.
I created this piece based on a sketch I drew during a trip to southern Izu.
To reach the falls, I descended over 200 steps,
and with each step, the sound of the crashing water grew louder—building anticipation.
The contrast between the vibrant summer greens and the pure white spray of the falls was unforgettable.
🎨 Artistic Highlights
The challenge in this work was capturing the powerful presence of the waterfall using the delicate medium of watercolor.
In addition to the main cascade, I carefully painted various features of the surrounding nature:
- A small waterfall trickling down the cliff on the left
- Columnar basalt rock formations on the right
- Splashing spray at the basin
- Moss-covered rocks scattered throughout the clear stream
All these elements were painted to convey the immersive beauty I felt during my visit.
✍️ Lessons from This Work
I intentionally limited my color palette,
which helped create a more unified and harmonious tone throughout the painting.
However, I still find myself wanting to express more delicate details,
especially in the leaves of the trees and the texture of flowing water.
Moving forward, I plan to improve my brush control and explore more ways to express subtle natural textures through watercolor.
