はじめてのアクリル画 〜サロンに飾る女性の絵〜

今回は、私が初めて描いたアクリル画作品について振り返ってみたいと思います！
◆ はじめに：アクリル画との出会い
この絵を描く前に、単発のアクリル画講座に参加し、基本的な画材の使い方を学びました。
その直後、女性専用サロンを経営する親族からのご依頼で、アクリル画を描くことに。
「飾る場所はサロンの壁」——
リラックスできて、女性らしい美しさが感じられる空間にふさわしい作品を目指して、女性を題材にした2点の人物画を描くことにしました。
◆ 作品紹介
①「黄色の服を着た女性」
🎨鮮やかなイエローのドレスと、どこかアンニュイな表情の女性が印象的な作品です。
グリーンの大きな椅子が、黄色のドレスと美しいコントラストを作り、直線的なフォルムが画面を引き締めるのに、ひと役買いました。
特に苦労したのは肌の色の表現。なかなか思ったようにいかず💦
何度も塗り重ね、筆のタッチを活かすことで、存在感のある仕上がりを目指しました。
②「紫の服を着た女性」
🎨ペア作品として描いたのがこちら。
紫のフォーマルドレスを身にまとい、同じターバンを巻いた女性が登場します。
背景は屋内とも屋外ともとれる抽象的な空間。
傍らには黒猫が寄り添い、ミステリアスな雰囲気をさらに引き立てています。
難しかったのは足元と靴の表現。形のバランスや立体感の出し方には、今後の課題が残りました！
◆ アクリル画を描いてみて感じたこと
久しぶりに人物画を描いて、自分の絵の癖や描き方が学生時代と変わっていないことに驚きもありました。
アクリル絵の具の速乾性は想像以上で、メリットもある反面、以下のような注意点が必要でした：

筆はすぐ洗う（乾くと落ちません！）

パレットの絵の具が乾かないよう、リターダーを混ぜたり、水を加える

キャンバス上で水スプレーを使って、乾燥をコントロール
また、メディウムやモデリングペーストを使えば、油彩のような重厚感ある表現やテクスチャアートにも応用できると知り、ますますアクリル画の魅力に引き込まれました。
◆ 今回の反省とこれから
この作品は下描きなしの一発勝負で挑んだのですが、構図や色のバランスに迷い、何度もやり直すことになりました。
次回からは、事前にラフスケッチや配色プランを作ってから取り組みたいと思います！
反省点はいろいろあるけれど、完成させたという自信と、何より「描く喜び」を思い出せたことが最大の収穫です。

この2枚の絵は今、依頼者のサロンでお客様を迎えています。
私のアーティストとしての第一歩を飾ってくれる、記念すべき作品たちです✨

🎨 My First Acrylic Paintings – Portraits for a Women’s Salon
Hello, this is Rikka.
Today, I’d like to look back on my very first acrylic painting experience!
◆ Introduction: How I Met Acrylics
Before creating these pieces, I took a one-day acrylic painting class, where I learned the basics of using the materials.
Soon after, a relative who runs a women-only salon asked me to create some artwork for her space.
“The paintings will be hung on the salon wall.”
With that in mind, I decided to create two portraits of women—artworks that would suit a relaxing, feminine atmosphere.
◆ About the Paintings
① Woman in a Yellow Dress
This piece features a woman in a vivid yellow dress with a slightly melancholic expression.
A large green armchair contrasts beautifully with her dress and adds a sense of structure to the composition.
The most challenging part was expressing her skin tone.
I struggled to get the color right and ended up layering the paint multiple times, using visible brush strokes to create a strong presence.
② Woman in a Purple Dress
This is the paired piece.
The same woman appears again, this time dressed in a formal purple gown with a matching turban.
The background is abstract, open to interpretation as either an indoor or outdoor scene.
A black cat sits beside her, enhancing the mysterious mood of the piece.
The hardest part here was painting her feet and shoes—the shape and depth still need some work!
◆ What I Learned from Acrylic Painting
It had been a while since I’d painted a portrait, and I was surprised to find my style hadn’t changed much since my student days.
Acrylic paint dries much faster than I imagined. While that’s often helpful, there were some things I had to watch out for:

Wash brushes immediately (dried paint is hard to remove!)

Use a retarder or water to keep the paint on the palette from drying too fast

Spray water on the canvas to control drying time
I also learned that using mediums and modeling paste can create rich textures, similar to oil painting.
This opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities for me.
◆ Reflections and What’s Next
I painted both pieces without any initial sketch—just freehand.
As a result, I struggled with the composition and color balance and had to redo parts multiple times.
Next time, I plan to start with rough sketches and a color plan before diving in!
There’s definitely room for improvement, but the biggest takeaway was the joy of painting—and the confidence I gained by finishing these works.
◆ In Closing
These two pieces are now on display at the salon, welcoming clients as they walk in.
They mark the very beginning of my journey as an artist—
and I hope to keep growing and creating even better artwork in the future.
